NABADISHA-Education for the Children in need of care and protection

As someone rightly said, “When you put faith, hope and love together, you can raise positive kids in a negative world.”. While the city gears up for modernization, there still remain thousands of children whose only road is the stretch of road they find themselves on. However with Navadisha many of these children of the lesser God have found a benefactor in the West Bengal Police, CRY-Child Releif and You and Vikramshila Education Resource Society. There are ten centres in the jurisdiction of West Bengal Police, which functioning for the Children in need of  care and protection  with the active involvement of the West Bengal Police and NGO. The coordination is carried out by CID of West Bengal Police(.)

Nabadisha focuses on building self esteem and self confidence  of  street /slum children through recreational education, personal hygiene and health. Trained teachers conduct classes in each area. Besides reading and writing, the children hook up to the learning curve through games, colors, interactive staff like acting, singing and dancing. They are also asked to make up stories, play act, and voice original thoughts. Its been 5 years now and in the ten centre, these street children who would otherwise roam aimlessly down the streets, get involved in anti-social activities or get shunned by society are  now being initiated to a world of alphabets, numbers, songs, dances and most of all-confidence. Nabadisha is nurturing these children under its wings with lot of love and care to give them what they rightfully deserve-their childhood.

Short term objective of Nabadisha
To run informal education programme inside or vicinity of the police station for street and slum children, children in conflict with law, children of the criminals, substances abused children, and main stream them in to formal government school.

Long term objective of Navadisha
Bridging the gap between  Police and Community, through sensitization and orientation on J.J.Act and Child right for Police to emerge as the true  ambassador of Human Right a as whole and Child Right in particular.
