Cyber Crime Cell
Cyber crime is an evil having its origin in the growing dependence on computers in modern life. In a day and age when everything from microwave ovens and refrigerators to nuclear power plants is being run on computers, cyber crime has assumed rather sinister implications. Recognizing theses aspects and the implications of cyber threats, the CID has established a Cyber Crime Unit to manage and direct this developing program. The CID is increasing its capability to identify and neutralize enterprises and individuals who illegally access computer systems, spread malicious code, or support terrorist or state-sponsored computer operations. The Computer Crime Analysis Lab will be equipped with the latest equipment and expertise to deal with all types of computer crimes, computer frauds and computer abuse. The Cyber Crime cell at CID West Bengal has been discharging its investigation in respect of cases pertaining to hacking, spread of virus, pornography, manipulation of accounts, alteration of data, software piracy, creation of false Web sites, printing of counterfeit currency, forged visas, theft of intellectual property, email spamming, denial of access, password theft, crimes with cell phones and palmtops, cyber terrorism etc. with utter sicerity and robust dedication and vow to curb down cyber related crimes. It has already done commendable efforts to combat Cyber Crimes and to eradicate Cyber Frauds and other types of Internet related Crimes. |
