Thakurpukur PS Case No. 251 dated 21.06.95 u/s 363/366/120B IPC.


The fact of the case in brief is that on 13.05.95 morning a team of excursion consisting of eight members viz. Susmita Dhar (victim) student of Ist year MA in Bengali, Soma Samanta, Suparna Banerjee, Anindita Das all students of MA Ist yr. Bengali of Jadavpur University & Rajib Chowdhury, a student of BA final year of Jadavpur University, Debanjan Das an M. Phil student of Jadavpur University, Sree Biswanath Rana and his wife Smt. Ira Rana left Howrah Railway Station for Chandipur, Balasore, Orissa by Dhouli Express. They reached Balasore Rly. Station at about 10.45 hrs. and left for Chandipur “ Santinivash ’’ lodge with two auto-rickshows and reached Santinivash lodge at about 11.30 hrs. They put up there in two rooms - in one room Mr. and Mrs Rana stayed and in the other room ( Room No. 6) the six remaining members of the team made their accommodation. They were scheduled to come back on 16.05.95.

During their stay, they enjoyed their trip but on 16.05.95 morning when the party was making preparation to return back to Kolkata, suddenly it came to their notice that one of the members of the team viz. Susmita Dhar was untraced. They made search for Susmita in the nearby areas and at about 13.00 hrs. the local Police was informed about the incidence of missing. O/C Chandipur PS visited the PO and examined the members of the team. Addl. SP Balasore also visited the PO and enquired into the matter. Shri Shyamal Dhar, father of the untraced girl also reached there. In their presence all members of the team were thoroughly examined and further search was conducted under the direct supervision of Addl. S.P. Balasore and O/C Chandipur PS. No specific case was started at Chandipur PS.

On the basis of the complaint of Shri Shyamal Dhar, father of the missing girl dated 21.06.95 the case being Thakurpukur PS Case No.251 dt. 21.06.95 u/s 363/366/120B IPC was started. Before lodging the complaint, Shyamal Dhar made complaint to the Missing Persons Bureau, CID, West Bengal on 29.05.95. O/C Missing Persons Bureau displayed the photograph of victim through TV, All India Radio and circulated the news in news papers.
